Sean Berens, son of Ray and Joan, has been a part of Illinois hockey since the age of 3 when he put on his first pair of hockey skates. Instructed by his father Ray for most of his life, he began playing with the Northwest Chargers followed by Team Illinois and William Fremd High School. In this time Sean won 9 Illinois State Championship titles. He then made the move to the United States Hockey League (USHL), where he joined the Dubuque Fighting Saints and finished among the league leaders in points (3rd) in his first season. Sean went on to represent Illinois, playing twice for the US National teams in Switzerland and Japan. He received MVP honors in the gold medal game against Russia in the Pacific Cup final.
