The United States Hockey League (the only Tier I Junior League in the country) held part of the fifth annual USHL Combine at the Arctic Ice Arena, in Orland Park this past weekend. Players who are invited to participate in the Combines have been pre-screened and scouted by USHL Player Development staff. Participating players have the opportunity to showcase their skills while playing in a minimum of four (4) games in front of USHL coaches and scouts, as well as NCAA coaches.
Invitees are also be subjected to off-ice physical and cognitive testing. There are classroom presentations to help players better understand what it takes to play in the USHL. For those with ’96, ’97, and ‘98 birth years, this is their last opportunity to be seen prior to the USHL Draft. For the ’99 – ’00 birth years, this is their first opportunity to make a statement in front of all the USHL teams. This weekend the 96-97 birth years were run through the paces of the combine. It is the second of three weekends that the USHL Combine will be held this spring/summer. If you are looking to see some of the best and brightest from around the world, stop by for the final weekend, July 29th and watch the 99-00’s.
