On Saturday, October 25, 50 coaches converged on Center Ice of DuPage for AHAI’s High Performance Coaching Education Program (CEP) Clinic. Hosted by the Admirals Hockey Club, a USA Hockey Model Association, the AHAI High Performance CEP clinic was the first of its kind held in Illinois.
USA Hockey delivered several hours of updated content focusing on the American Development Model (ADM) from Mites through Midgets. As part of the instruction, the coaches watched as 35+ Squirts and PeeWees took the ice for a spirited station-based practice followed by cross-ice scrimmages. Ken Martel, Bob Mancini, Scott Paluch, and Michelle Amidon (all USA Hockey ADM staff) led the clinic as they discussed what the ADM is at each age level from U8 to U18. The smaller size class allowed for much more sharing of ideas and information among the coaches and USA Hockey staff.
Prior to the AHAI High Performance CEP Clinic on Saturday, USA Hockey conducted practices, coaching sessions, and parent meetings with the Admirals Hockey Club. As a USA Hockey Model Association, the Admirals enjoy the benefits of working closely with USA Hockey and its staff of professionals to implement the ADM at their club.
