The World Invite presented by Bauer is home to the largest youth ice hockey tournament in the world. This year 428 teams and 7,704 players competed in 959 games in over 25 rinks in the Chicago area.
The tournament kicked-off in grand style on Thursday, November 6 at Seven Bridges Ice Arena. An Opening Night Team Reception, sponsored in part by the Chicago Blackhawks, welcomed players and their families to Chicago while allowing them to try the latest Bauer gear during the Bauer Experience and participate in skill competitions and interactive exhibits and booths. Team Coaches and Managers were treated to an Opening Night Gala filled with great music, food and VIP guests, the Hanson Brothers, Blues Brothers, Art Below Zero and Elliot From! Hockey fans of all ages were treated to a display of 20 of hockey’s most prestigious trophies, including the Stanley Cup, and an Opening Night Feature Match between the USHL’s Chicago Steel and Waterloo Black Hawks.
The World Hockey Invite plays host to some of the best AA/AAA youth hockey teams from the US, Canada and Europe. “No other AAA tournament will have as many scouts in attendance as we showcase the finest young hockey players in the world, so many of whom will go on to play junior and college hockey, and some even in the NHL,” states Kevin Mann, tournament director. He further states, “These scouts regard the Bauer World Invite as a key opportunity to identify and evaluate players they will recruit in the coming years for their great programs. Playing USHL/NAHL junior and NCAA college hockey is a natural path for elite players to develop and reach their hockey dreams, and we are proud to help in delivering that message to the players and their families.”
