When it comes to Christmas morning no child should have an empty stocking or nothing under the tree. Christmas morning should be magical! So Plainfield High School Hockey Association (PHSHA) set out to collect toys at our annual Toys for Tots Jamboree to make sure Christmas is a little more merry for some children.
The 3 hockey game event was held on Saturday, December 6th at Canlan Ice Sports Rink in Romeoville. PHSHA’s Varsity and JV Red teams played teams from Lincoln-Way, while PHSHA’s JV White team played the Cobras. All 6 teams participated in 2 on-ice toy presentations where they individually skated up to the 2 U.S. Marines and presented their unwrapped toy. It was an emotional moment for the skaters to not only meet & shake hands with the Marines but to also know that through their unselfishness another child will be able to have a smile on Christmas.
Through the generosity of the Plainfield, Lincoln-Way and Cobras coaches, parents and skaters, we were able to bring Christmas joy to hundreds of children.
Thank you to everyone whom came out to enjoy a great night of hockey and also for helping make our Jamboree an overwhelming success.
See you next year!!!
Be the reason someone smiles today….That’s exactly what the Plainfield High School Hockey Association did. On the morning of Sunday, December 14th PHSHA skaters, Coaches and parents volunteered their time at the Morningstar Mission of Joliet. Morningstar Mission’s Stars of Hope program provides Christmas presents to needy families. The volunteers from PHSHA helped the Stars of Hope by loading over 1500 bags of presents into 2 semi trailers that will be distributed and bring the joy of Christmas to over 365 families this year. Everyone worked hard and they all had a sense of accomplishment for a job well done. But they realized that because of their efforts Christmas will mean just a little bit more.
