“Beyond the Scoreboard” – Lilly Bianchi of Lake Forest Named Runner-Up in Jack Falla Junior Reporter Essay Contest

To honor one of the great American Hockey writers, USA Hockey Magazine asked youth hockey players to write a game recap, feature article or blog post about themselves, their team or a teammate for the Jack Falla Junior Reporter Essay Contest. Jack Falla was a veteran hockey writer for Sports Illustrated in addition to the author of several acclaimed hockey books, including “Home Ice: Reflections on Backyard Rinks and Frozen Ponds.” He also shared his passion for the profession as a long-time professor at Boston University right up until his passing in 2008. USA Hockey’s panel of judges narrowed down the entries in November and ESPN personality, John Buccigross, selected the grand-prize winner and runner-up essays, which appear in the December 2014 issue of USA Hockey Magazine.

AHAI congratulates Lilly Bianchi, who plays for the Lake Forest High School Scouts. Bianchi’s essay, Beyond the Scoreboard, is featured as one of the 3 runner-up articles in USA Hockey Magazine’s December issue.
