NTG GOalieIf Saturday night’s opening Semi-Final SHL game is any indication, the series between New Trier  Green and Barrington sets up to be a real classic.

In triple overtime, Green defeated the Broncos by the score of 3-2.  The game which lasted 87 minutes, featured 95 total shots, 54 by Green and 41 from Barrington.

Barrington held a 1-0 lead heading into the 3rd period on a goal from Casey Dodge but Harry Jones’s even strength goal tied the game with 14 minutes to play.

New Trier Greens defenseman Graham Soman put the Trevians up 2-1 with less than 3 minutes to play.  With time winding down, and the Barrington net empty for the extra attacker, Casey Dodge put a shot on goal that Green’s Jack Junge stopped but the rebound came right back to Collin Starvel who stunned the crowd by tying the game at 2 with 20 seconds to play.

Both goalies, Jack Junge of New Trier and Marcus Kunzmann of Barrington were outstanding, each making big saves in the overtime.
