28th Annual High School Scholarship Awards Luncheon & Recognition of the Keith Magnuson Blackhawk Alumni Scholarship Recipients

Blackhawk Alumni 28 years

On Monday, March 9, Chicago Blackhawk Players, Coaches and Management and members of the Illinois hockey community gathered together for the 28th Annual High School Scholarship Awards Luncheon to recognize the three high school recipients of the Keith Magnuson Blackhawk Alumni Scholarship Award – Joseph Orecchio of St. Viator, William Spell of Brother Rice and Margot Werner of Latin School of Chicago. The Blackhawk Alumni Association has now awarded 91 scholarships totaling over $1,200,000 in education for High School players in Illinois.

Also honored in memoriam were Sal Ferrara (Gunzo Award), Paul Ruck (Chief Blackhawk Award) and Clint Reif (Chief Blackhawk Award). Cliff Koroll, Chicago Blackhawk Alumni Association President, stated, “Sal Ferrara was a close friend to all and a huge supporter of our Alumni and the Blackhawks. There is none more generous than Sal. He provided great leadership for us as Chairman of our Advisory Board to make it one, if not the best, Alumni in the League. Paul, an Off-ice Official and Clint, an Assistant Trainer, were both associated with the Blackhawks for several years and will be very sorely missed.”
