COLLEGE PREPARATORY SEMINAR: “HOCKEY AFTER HIGH SCHOOL”
AHAI is proud to present the 25th annual series of Seminars on the opportunities in ice hockey after high school. We’ll talk about Men’s and Women’s Division I, III, Club Hockey, Junior College, Prep Schools and Junior Programs. A wide array of topics will be discussed that will include short discussions on:
- Making a College Hockey Team – “What does it take besides hockey skills?”
- Financial Aid – How do you apply?
- How to pick the right school for you?
- NCAA and the new stricter rules for admittance for athletes.
- Making the Grades – How important is it?
- Should I play Juniors/Junior College before college?
- Prep Schools – Should I go or should I stay?
- USA Hockey Camps/Festivals
- America’s Showcase Team
- Chicago Blackhawk Alumni Scholarship Program
There will be an Open House where more than 20 colleges and Junior teams will be available for you to talk with. Attendance is a must for all players (male & female) born in 1999. Players born in 1998 or 2000 are also welcome to attend. This seminar will be a must for the 2000’s next year.
Attendance will assist in consideration toward AHAI sanctioned Player Development events including, but not limited to, AHAI sponsored Clinics, America’s High School Showcase, etc. High School, Bantam & Midget age players and Girl’s born before 1999 who have not attended a College Night Seminar in the past are also encouraged to attend. Everyone else is invited and encouraged to attend this FREE Seminar, including parents and friends of ice hockey.

In order to attend the College Night Seminar please click HERE to register online. Online registration will not begin until Tuesday, September 21, 2015. In order to attend this Seminar, you must fill out the online Application form in its entirety. A PDF confirmation will be created after you submit your registration form online. This PDF confirmation will also be emailed to you. You MUST PRINT this confirmation and YOU MUST BRING THIS CONFIRMATION SHEET WITH YOU to the College Night Seminar. There is a bar code on the sheet which must be scanned to verify attendance. We encourage coaches, parents and all friends of hockey to attend so that all participants in Illinois hockey will have a better understanding of the realities and numerous avenues open to hockey players as they progress.
After a joint presentation of opening remarks, the balance of the Girls Seminar will adjourn to a separate room. Parents do not need to register online – Only Players! We especially encourage all parents to find out the real facts about hockey after high school so players can better plan today for their futures.
The Seminar will begin promptly at 7:00 p.m. and will end at 9:30 p.m. Late arrivals WILL NOT BE ADMITTED and will constitute non-attendance. Players MUST stay the entire length of the Seminar. Leaving early will constitute non-attendance. In addition, as a matter of respect for the speakers, ALL PLAYERS WILL BE REQUIRED TO STAY IN THEIR SEATS throughout the Seminar once it begins. Re-entry into the Seminar once it begins WILL NOT BE ALLOWED and will constitute non-attendance.
