Plainfield High School Hockey Association Holds Annual Toys for Tots Jamboree

By Kimberly Gore

Plainfield High School Hockey Association (PHSHA) held their annual Toys for Tots Jamboree. They set out to collect toys to ensure that Christmas morning is more “merry” than it would have been for some less fortunate children. When it comes to Christmas morning no child should have an empty stocking or no presents under the tree. Christmas morning should be magical!

The 2 hockey game event was held on Sunday, December 13th at Canlan Ice Sports Rink in Romeoville. PHSHA’s Varsity and JV Red teams played teams from Waubonsie. All 4 teams participated in the on-ice toy presentation where they individually skated up to the 3 U.S. Marines in attendance and presented their unwrapped toy. It was an emotional moment for the skaters to not only meet and shake hands with the Marines, but to also know that through their unselfishness another child will be able to have a smile on Christmas.

Through the overwhelming generosity of the Plainfield and Waubonsie coaches, parents and skaters, the organizations were able to bring Christmas joy to hundreds of children.

Thank you to everyone who came out to enjoy a great day of hockey and also for helping make the PHSHA Jamboree an overwhelming success.

See you next year!!!
