It is with great sadness that the Illini Hockey club announces that it has lost former player and long time coach, Mark Roszkowski, who passed away unexpectedly at the age of 66 on March 16th.
Mark grew up in Rockford, IL and attended Boylan Catholic High School before coming to the University of Illinois in 1966 obtaining a BS in Accountancy in 1971, then a Juris Doctorate Degree in 1975. While at Illinois, Mark played goaltender for the Illini from 1967-71 and 1972-73.
Mark started working for the University of Illinois in 1975 and was the head coach for Illini Hockey from 1976 through 1992. During this time Mark put together a record of 210-162-7, a win record that stood until 2005.
During his time as professor emeritus of business law at the University of Illinois, Mark won several teaching honors and awards. He was the beloved husband of Christie and cherished brother of Greg, Dan and John, and dear nephew, uncle, cousin and friend.
