The 2016 AHAI Adult State Championship Tournament concluded Sunday May 1, 2016. Five hundred players and twenty-eight Men’s Adult Teams from 12 different Adult Leagues in Chicagoland and Rockford competed for six Men’s Adult Titles for 2016. After 5 days and 64 games the Champions were crowned. The B Final showcased a 2-1 win by Northbrook Chiefs over the Rockford Redmen, the C1 Final featured a 2-1 win by defending Champ Fox Valley Ice Bison over the Addison Motorheads, the C2 Final tilt was a 6-5 OT win by the 7Bridges Hahn House Team Beer League over the Geneva Spotted Fox, and the Rec Division featured a barn-burner 9-7 win with an empty netter late by Romeoville Healthy Scratch over Rolling Meadows Cobra. This fantastic event featured many new Teams from Leagues not previously represented and many returning Teams.
Thank you very much to all the great Captains who organized their Teams for this awesome event! Many thanks to Seven Bridges venue and Staff who served as a wonderful host and we look to return there in 2017! Many thanks to IHOA who supplied high quality Officials for every game. Thank you Ron Abels who coordinated the scorekeepers. Huge thanks to North American Breweries and Beth Walsh who generously contributed complimentary Labatts all weekend to Players over 21 as well as contributed to the awards. Big thanks to Sue and her Staff at the Blue Line Club who kept the refreshments going with a smile all weekend long! Thank you to USA Hockey for giveaways and AHAIs’ Adult Committee Co-Chair, Don Allord for the awards, management, time, effort and resources to put this great event on!
