In its second year, Team Illinois’ 14U Bake Sale, benefiting Girls in the Game, was more successful than anyone could have imagined. With three games, including a Team Illinois/Chicago Mission double header, this past Sunday brought in more players, parents and fans than the previous year. Everyone showed their support and the event brought in double the proceeds this year, raising more than $1,000! Girls in the Game is THE leading girls’ organization in Chicago, helping girls in SPORTS, HEALTH, LEADERSHIP, and LIFE (Girls in the Game).
Team Illinois 14U Co-Head Coach Courtney O’Connor has been involved with Girls in the Game for over 4 years and tries to display the same mission as the organization – empowering all girls to be game changers. Dawn Kobel, Senior Development Manager at Girls in the Game adds, “For the second year, Team Illinois and AHAI have generously supported the work of Girls in the Game. It’s fitting that a hockey league encourages the sports, health and leadership programs that Girls in the Game provides, through the work of leaders in the league as they understand the impact that sports and teamwork can have in a young woman’s life”.
The Team Illinois 14U players and coaches would like to thank the Team Illinois 19U and 12U teams, Mission 14U players, and Mission 19U players, parents and coaches for their support!
