The Lincoln Way District Hockey Club’s Junior Varsity 1 team played a scrimmage game against the Chicago Blackhawks Warriors on Saturday, November 12th at Flossmoor Ice Arena. The team organized a chuck-a-puck and 50/50 raffle during the second intermission with all proceeds benefiting the Chicago Blackhawks Warriors. The Chicago Blackhawks Warriors are sponsored by the Chicago Blackhawks organization.

blackhawks-warriors-finalThe Chicago Blackhawks Warrior ice hockey program was founded in 2015 in conjunction with USA Disabled Hockey to give our injured military members and veterans an opportunity to play hockey in an environment that suited their needs. The program trains them in the skills needed to use hockey as a rehabilitation tool to overcome physical and mental disabilities sustained in their service to our nation. The Chicago Blackhawks Warriors rely solely on fundraising and charitable donations to support their program throughout the season.

After the scrimmage, Lincoln Way players were able to talk with members of the Warriors team; many shared their stories about their injuries and how they occurred.  This event was a wonderful experience for both our players and parents.
