Hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving!
The first half of the Metro Girls High School league season is coming to a close, with the final few games deciding where the teams will fall within the Scholastic or Founders divisions and where they will compete during the second half. Play will wrap up just before the holiday break…final results to be announced soon!
While the action from the first half of the season is wrapping up, there is lots of fun stuff happening around the league.
Barrington Girls Help Host Event to Remember One of their Own: On December 22, 2016, the Barrington Girls Ice hockey team will join forces with the Give Bonnie Strong 77 Foundation and Yellow Jacket’s Girl’s Hockey to welcome all girl skaters for the 3rd Annual Bonnie V. Memorial All Girls Skate to help fight pediatric cancer.
The Foundation was established in honor of Bonnie Vonder Haar, a courageous 12 year old hockey player who taught us how to live, how to fight, and how to stay strong during her battle with leukemia in 2014. This year, 2014 U.S. Women’s Hockey Olympians Kendall Coyne and Megan Bozek will participate in the event and provide photo opportunities with the skaters and their families.
The event will be held from 7-10 p.m. at the Crystal Ice House in Crystal Lake, Illinois. Admission to the event is $20 per skater and $5 for spectators. To learn more about Bonnie and to register for the skate, please visit www.givebonniestrong77.org. Please bring a new, unwrapped toy to be donated to the Ronald McDonald House, a special place that provided Bonnie and her family a home away from home during her battle with leukemia.
Keep up all the good work ladies!
