UNION LAKE, Mich. – (December 19, 2016) – The United States Women’s National University Team will hold a pre-tournament training camp in Chicago and St. Louis from December 28 through December 30 ahead of the 2017 Winter World University Games to be held in Almaty, Kazakhstan early next year, it was announced by Molly Mahoney, Women’s Division 1 Commissioner for the American Collegiate Hockey Association.
After a practice day in Chicago, the team will play exhibition games against the Chicago Mission U19 team on December 29 at 4:30pm Central Time at the Seven Bridges Ice Arena in Woodbridge, Ill. and the Lindenwood Women’s NCAA Division 1 team on December 30 at 7:30pm at the Lindenwood Arena in Wentzville, Mo.
A final roster shall be determined at the conclusion of training camp. The team, which will be entirely made up of players from ACHA Women’s Division teams, will represent USA Hockey for the fourth consecutive time.
The camp roster is highlighted by three players, all forwards, from the 2015 U.S. Women’s National University Team: Rachael Booth (Washington, Mich./Miami University); Katie Augustine (West Chester, Ohio/Miami University); and Kendra Myers (Cedar Springs, Mich./Grand Valley State University).
Shelley Looney (Brownstown Township, Mich.) will make her debut as head coach after serving as an assistant Team USA IN 2015. Scott Hicks (Richmond, Ind.), head coach of the women’s ice hockey team at Miami University, who also served as an assistant coach in 2015, will serve in the same capacity this year, as will Brett Berger (Springfield, N.J.), head coach of the women’s ice hockey team at Adrian College, who will serve as an assistant for the first time.
