AHAI’s New Year’s Eve Girls Cross-Ice Classic

New Years Classic 3v3 Girls.png

On Saturday, Dec 31st, 10 girls’ teams converged on Seven Bridges Ice Arena for a fun day of cross-ice hockey. The competition was fierce, the fun was contagious, and comradery was in the air. Six 10U teams (Sabres 1, Sabres 2, Vipers, St Jude, Franklin Park 1 and Franklin Park 2) and four 12U teams (Sabres, Vipers, Admirals, and Hawks) jammed out at The Bridges playing 17 games in total. Each participant received a special SWAG bag with items provided by AHAI and the Chicago Blackhawks. The Admirals 16 and 19U girls manned a face painting station and a hockey sock hat craft station for the girls to hang out at between games.

The winners of each division received a Blackhawks Winter Classic knit hat and plenty of smiles for a job well done.

Champions – Sabres 1
2nd Place – Sabres 2

Champions – Vipers
2nd Place – Sabres

AHAI would like to thank the 3 referees who covered each game, Joe and Drew Bresingham and Bradley Buh, all the clock keepers for a job well done, and especially the parents for understanding what the day was about – the girls competing hard and having fun. Finally, thank you to all the girls for some inspiring hockey. We hope to be back at the United Center next year and look forward to another great event.
