Metro Girls League Update: Glenbrook Leads Scholastic Division

ACTION UPDATE 

There are still many games to be played in the second half of the season, but currently Glenbrook is on top of the Scholastic Division with 5 points. Close behind is New Trier Varsity and Fenwick with 3 points each. On top of the leader board in the Founders Division is Barrington with 5 points, followed by Lake Forest High School with 4 points and Lake Forest Academy with 3 points. Stay tuned for updates!

Check out the photos from a recent outdoor game featuring Glenbrook facing off against Evanston. The game took place at MB Financial Park on January 26. It was a nice night for an outdoor game. Glenbrook beat Evanston 6-2. Maddy Dunham with Glenbrook scored two goals and Caitlin Schneider also with Glenbrook had two goals and two assists. Evanston’s Shea Nelson scored both of their goals and Evanston goalie Grace Giangreco faced 43 shots on goal in the net for Evanston.

Neil Milbert, a former Blackhawks beat writer for the Chicago Tribune, has been covering a variety of the Metro high School girls games for 22nd Century Media, that publishes a number of local papers, including the Northbrook Tower, Lake Forest Leader and Winnetka Current. COLLEGE COMMIT

The Lake Forest High School Scouts are proud to announce that senior forward Hannah Nelson has committed to Trine University in Angola, Indiana to play on their inaugural NCAA Division 3 team. Hannah will be majoring in Physical Education and minoring in coaching. Good luck at Trine, Hannah!

ACCOLADES & HONORS

Congratulations are in order for Coach Mike Glass on being named the BMO Harris Bank Coach of the Month for January!  He was honored at the Blackhawks game against the Tampa Bay Lightning on January 24. Mike currently coaches the Winnetka Girls 12U and Loyola Academy Girls Hockey teams. Congrats Coach Glass! Check out the AHAI story here.
