Congratulations to all players and teams for a wonderful season – there were lots of truly competitive games and hard fought victories.
A big shout out to Glenbrook High School – State Champions 2016-2017! Congrats are also in order for Loyola for taking second place.
The game at the United Center on St. Patrick’s Day was a lot of fun. Glenbrook kicked off the scoring mid-way through the first period when Hannah Jensen netted the first goal on a pass from Madison Itagaki. Caitlin Schneider added to Glenbrook’s tally on a pass from Katerina Poulos. In the second period Glenbrook added two more goals, the first was scored by Schneider on a pass from Lily Cataldo and Koby Wilcox, and Jensen scored her second, an unassisted goal.
Loyola got their first goal late in the second when Tess Dettling scored on a pass from Greta Skarzynski. The scoring went back and forth in the third when Glenbrook’s Chloe Carroll scored on a pass from Schneider. Loyola battled back with an unassisted goal by Valerie Caldwell, only for Glenbrook’s Schneider to score her third goal of the game on a pass from Cataldo. Loyola’s Caldwell scored the team’s final goal with Charlotte Langill being awarded the assist. Glenbrook beat the Ramblers 7-3 with a final empty net goal scored by Jensen – her third of the game on a pass from Schneider. Both goaltenders were great in net. Loyola’s Tianna Lavalle had 26 saves, while Glenbrook’s goalie Jojo Chobak stopped 29 pucks.
