The tiering round in the Metro Girls High School season is well underway. Many games are yet to be played, but this season is shaping up to be highly competitive. All of the teams in the league have grown and added depth. And it is great to have Naper Valley back in the mix!
So far two teams – New Trier Varsity (4-0-0) and Fenwick (2-0-1) – remain undefeated in the young season. Naper Valley, Glenbrook, Barrington and Lake Forest round out the current top six spots so far. It is clear this will be interesting to watch!
Scoring leaders to date include Val Ruley (Evanston), Madison Itagaki (Glenbrook), Madeline Babnik (New Trier Varsity), Kennedy Stein (Lake Forest), Mae Olshansky (New Trier Varsity), Elizabeth Ahne (Maine), Veronica Bac (Barrington), Erin Proctor (Fenwick), Jordan Moore (Warren), and Lily Cataldo (Glenbrook).
The Warren Girls Hockey Team got involved in their local community by participating in the Gurnee Days Parade that was held in August. The parade is one of the most popular events of Gurnee Days and featured more than 50 entries including local school bands, floats from local businesses and organizations, and youth programs.
The themes this year was “Gurnee Days – Let’s Play Ball!” and the girl’s team entered a creative float and marched in the parade. The team also kicked off the season with a “boot camp” to get the chemistry going.
