Attention Girls: Want to be part of the 2018 Illinois Girls America’s Showcase Team?

By Anita Lichterman

Hello female hockey players & families! 2018 will mark the 3rd year that Illinois has fielded a Girls’ team for the America’s Showcase. Once known as the Chicago Showcase, USA Hockey renamed it the America’s Showcase when the tournament was moved to Pittsburgh. After 8 years in Pittsburgh, the Showcase is now coming back into the Central District and will be held in St. Louis, Missouri April 19-22, 2018.

The Showcase is designed for high school junior and senior female hockey players who have not yet committed to a college or university and would like an opportunity to be seen by college coaches and scouts. The 2017 Showcase featured 8 teams from across the country and played host to over 25 college coaches and scouts who were in attendance strictly to see female hockey players. This year we anticipate even more colleges to be in attendance.

AHAI would like to take this opportunity to invite all female players (Tier I, Tier II and High School) who are interested in trying out for the 2018 Illinois team to let us know. The fee to participate is $400 per player (same as 2017’s fee), and includes practices, practice jersey, game jerseys (home & away), game socks, Showcase entrance fee and hotel room.

Again, this is primarily for high school junior and seniors who have not yet committed to a college or university. However, interested sophomores should also feel free to contact AHAI.
