2018 Disabled Hockey Festival Needs YOUR Help!

By Malisa Komalarajun

The Winter Olympics, The Stanley Cup Playoffs, and the IIHF World Junior Championship…all of these events set a stage where hockey players can showcase their talent. The USA Hockey Disabled Festival sets a similar platform like the events listed, and this event is the largest disabled hockey event of its kind. We need YOUR help to make this festival a success! Your support ensures we can continue building a community that helps these amazing players do what they love.

The USA Hockey Disabled Festival was formed to create opportunities for people to compete and challenge themselves beyond conventional limits. Disabled athletes from all over the United States and Canada will be competing at all ages and skill levels in the following Disabled Hockey disciplines: Sled Hockey, Special Hockey, Blind Hockey, Warrior Hockey, Standing/Amputee Hockey and Deaf/Hard of Hearing Hockey. With courage and determination, these athletes overcome fears, break down barriers, and shatter pre-conceived notions as they work toward new goals.

Our motto is Hockey is for everyBODY. Time and time again, our disabled athletes inspire us to greater heights. Throughout life we look for role models that can drive us to greater achievements. Inspiration reveals itself in many forms, and these athletes offer inspiration for many lifetimes. Over 1500 disabled hockey players from United States and Canada will participate during a four day competitive hockey tournament in April, which this year is hosted in the Chicagoland area.  Because of national growth in disabled hockey, for the first time we will be holding the festival over two weekends.

Your generous donations will help with all the associated costs for making this tournament an incredible experience for our athletes. This includes a social event where all players will have the opportunity to interact with each other and share a special experience, transportation for the athletes to the rinks, referees, and special gifts for all participants.  Any donation is appreciated, as every dollar raised will have a positive impact on player experience. We are hoping that with our fundraising goal, we will be able to accommodate more teams, more players and help grow disabled hockey throughout the country. It will be exciting to host this national event in Illinois so we hope to make it very special for all our disabled athletes.

Your contribution will ensure we can continue building our community of incredible athletes with disabilities, as they inspire each other and those around them. Thank you in advance for supporting these athletes! All proceeds from this page will go towards the disabled hockey event that benefits all players participating in the tournament.
