Chicago Mission Brings Home 2 National Championship Titles: Girls 16U & Youth 16U

AHAI is excited to announce that we have 2 National Champions! The Chicago Mission Girls 16U team defeated the Selects Academy at BK 2-1 to earn the 2018 USA Hockey Tier I Girls 16U National Championship title and the Chicago Mission Youth 16U bested Team Wisconsin 3-1 to claim USA Hockey’s Tier I Youth 16U National Championship Title!

There was a total of 15 Illinois teams competing for National Championship titles – 5 Tier I Youth (Mission 14U, Mission 15s, Mission 16U, CYA 16U and Mission 18U), 5 Tier I Girls (Mission 14U, CYA 14U, Mission 16U, Mission 19U, and CYA 19U), 3 Tier II Youth (Northern Express 14U, Falcons 16U and Bruins 18U) and 2 Tier II Girls teams (Warhawks 14U and Falcons 16U).

Nine (9) teams out of the 15 advanced out of pool play and into the quarterfinals in their respective divisions: The Mission Girls 14U, CYA Girls 14U, Mission Girls 16U, Mission Girls 19U, CYA Girls 19U, Mission Youth 15s, Mission Youth 16U, Highland Park Falcons 16U and the Chicago Bruins 18U teams.

An astounding 7 Illinois teams bested their quarterfinal opponents to advance to the semifinal round: CYA Girls 14U, Mission Girls 16U, Mission Girls 19U, CYA Girls 19U, Mission Youth 15s, Mission Youth 16U and the Falcons 16U teams. However, after the semifinal dust settled, only two Mission teams remained to battle for a National Championship title.
