Despite being a freshman, Nicolas Delia is focused on a playoff run this season for Notre Dame College Prep.
“My goal is to help my team make a long run in the state playoffs,” said Delia, 15, a Chicago resident who last season played for the Niles Rangers and also has played youth hockey in the past for the Skokie Flyers.
“This season is off to a strong start and I feel that I have grown as a team leader, but have also learned many things about the game from my older teammates.
“I am mostly a butterfly-(style) goalie with a strong glove and good post movement. My teammates would agree I am aggressive in my play, but try to be calm in high-pressure situations.”
Delia, who sports jersey No. 1, catches left-handed and once had a 40-save shutout in a bantam-minor playoff game.
