IHSHL North Central Division Update: Regular Season Champions Crowned!

By Christopher Waters

Regular season champs have been crowned! In what was one of the most exciting years in the short history of IHSHL North Central Division, New Trier had an epic come from behind victory against Lake Forest during their game in the last week of the season to overtake the Scouts for the top sport in the top varsity division! Chase Budington, Sophomore – New Trier White, lead the league in points; Giovanni Gulino, Senior – Leyden, lead the league in points per game; Jack Gerber, Sophomore – Deerfield, lead the league in goals; and Charles Acri, Sophomore – New Trier White, lead the league in assists. Evan Wurzbacher, Junior – BGHW, and William Sweetnam, Senior – Loyola Maroon, lead all goalies in save percentage.

There was a lot of parity and strong hockey played at levels. In the top JV division, Lake Forest squeaked by PREP Black by the narrowest of margins. In our other divisions, Crystal Lake South ran away the competition in the second varsity division, while Deerfield and Kings White won their respective JV divisions.

Congratulations to all teams and good luck in playoffs!
