Varsity All Stars Compete

The Illinois West Varsity All Stars played the All Star game on Tuesday, January 15th at All Seasons Ice Arena.  The visitors, Team Dyson, defeated the home squad, Team Hawkins by a score of 10 – 4.  Everyone had a great time and all participants received an All Star T-shirt.   An All Star Goalie of the Game was selected.  Jacob Grabarek of Oswego stopped all eight shots on goal.  Jacob was the only goalie to finish his period with a 100% save percentage.  Congratulations Jacob.

Illinois West Winter Classic Games a Big Success

Illinois West completed all our outdoor games this year.  All twenty nine teams participated and a good time was had by all.  Below are some team supplied photos from our Classics.

Wheaton West Gives Back

All the Wheaton West players from all three teams participated in a new fund raising event for the past holidays this year.  The teams worked to collect over $2400 for the Ronald McDonald House of Winfield, a partner of Central DuPage Hospital.  The funds were used to purchase requested items including clothes, toys, books and other items for the families at the Ronald MacDonald facility.  The teams were afforded a detailed tour of the facility when presenting the donation.

This is the first year Wheaton West and the Ronald McDonald House have partnered but Wheaton West looks forwarding to continuing this effort next holiday season.  Thanks boys for the support for a great cause.

Carl Sandburg Honors Fallen Teammate

On Friday December 28, 2018, the Sandburg Eagles Hockey Club hosted the annual David Dolitsky Memorial Alumni Game at Arctic Ice Arena.  The Eagles alumni game is in memory of former Eagle player David Dolitsky who died tragically in 2016 after being struck by a vehicle while he was mowing the lawn.  Two games were played between the alumni and the current Eagles JV and Varsity team.  More than 40 alumni showed up to participate in the games followed by a pizza party afterward.  The Dolitsky family was presented with a memorial jersey from the club in memory of their son.  The alumni skaters were given the same jerseys to wear during these annual games.  The event was a huge success. The Eagles Hockey Club have a scholarship fund set up in David Dolitsky’s name and information can be found on the Eagles website.
