Community Involvement

Glenbrook Hosts St. Jude’s Fundraiser
By Nora Curtis, Alternate Captain, Glenbrook Girls Hockey

On Sunday January 27th, Glenbrook Girls Hockey held a charity game benefiting St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital. The girls had never organized a fundraiser in the past but hope to make this an annual affair. The event created a great off-ice bonding experience for the team; they worked together to create and sell hair ties as well as prepare for the event which provided them quality time together. It was empowering for the teammates to see what they could achieve together while accomplishing something to benefit others.

Although the players did most of the event organization, lots of other people contributed to its success. Smiling Patient Dental Care very generously matched donations. Additionally, future Glenbrook player, Jackie Botvinik (Class of 2028), cleared out the bake sale by using her sales skills to sell treats in the stands. Finally, countless Glenbrook and Warren fans made donations to the charity. The event could not have happened without their great support!
