Mikaila Anderson Announced as Head Coach of Newly Established Aurora University Women’s ACHA Division II Hockey Program

Aurora University is excited to announce the hiring of Makaila Anderson as the Head Coach of the newly established ACHA Women’s Division II hockey program, which will begin play in the fall of 2019.

Anderson recently ended her playing career of five years at Robert Morris University (Ill.) with three of those years having her serve as a captain. The Minot, North Dakota native has been coaching at the Naperville Sabres organization for the past four years.

Additionally, she has worked at the National Player Development camps for USA hockey in St. Cloud, Minnesota for the past two years.

“I am excited for the opportunity to start a new program at AU and give more girls, both in the area and around the country, a chance to continue their careers at the collegiate level,” said Anderson.

The new women’s program will be the third ACHA program at Aurora University since hockey was established at the University in 2013.

“We are looking forward to seeing the rapid growth of our new women’s program under the direction of Makaila,” said Aurora Coordinator of Club Sports and ACHA Men’s D2 Coach Ryan Buchanan. “She has a passion for our great sport and I am excited to see her put that passion into new program.”
