JV Spotlight: Danny Sullivan, Glenbrook South

By Ross Forman – Danny Sullivan is a junior, left-handed shooting defenseman for Glenbrook South, an aggressive defenseman who admittedly loves winning puck battles in the Titans’ defensive end, leading to the breakout.

“I always have jumped into the corner for battles because I think battling for the puck is a lot of fun and one of the reasons I’ve played hockey for so long,” said Sullivan, 16, who lives in Glenview and skated for the Titans’ JV team last season too.

Sporting jersey No. 10, Sullivan previously played for the Glenview Stars.

“So far this season we have had a winning record and beat every (Scholastic Hockey League) team except for Glenbrook North, Stevenson, and York,” Sullivan said. “I’ve been trying to improve my shot (this season) so a goal is to have a more powerful and precise shot by the end of the season.”

York JV is running away with the SHL regular-season title, with a 20-1-0-0-3 record and 43 points. Glenbrook North is in second-place with 32 points, followed by Stevenson and Saint Viator (29) and GBS (28).

Sullivan said his favorite hockey-playing memory so far came last season, when the Titans defeated arch-rival Glenbrook North.

“I think (we have) a lot of talent and have been able to use it; we have just been struggling with finishing,” Sullivan said. “This season, when we play well, we are able to dominate and control the game; we just have trouble scoring. But I think we will be able to find our rhythm soon and will prove our worth in the playoffs.
