Chicago Steel Announce Fan Connection Series

Free webinar series offers content for fans young and old, showcasing players, staff and signature initiatives of 2020 Anderson Cup Champions

GENEVA, ILLINOIS — The Chicago Steel announced Friday the launch of their Fan Connection Series, an unprecedented webinar series with appearances from Steel players, coaches and staff.

The four-week series will take place during what would have been the same timeframe as the 2020 Clark Cup Playoffs, running from April 27 through May 23 and culminating with a watch party of the 2017 Clark Cup Championship clinching game narrated by members of the team and staff.

The initiative includes webinars specifically designed for each of the following groups: youth hockey (players, coaches, parents), scouts (boy/girl/cub), students, aspiring sports business professionals, Chicago Steel season ticket holders, fans and corporate partners.

“This initiative has been designed to not only help maintain our connection with our existing fans during these challenging times, but to reach new audiences through these presentations,” said Steel President Dan Lehv. “We’re excited to share the expertise we can offer to the youth hockey community, present our signature Live Strong as Steel assembly program, a scout character talk and Read with Rusty presentations virtually, and provide an outlet to connect with our most loyal fans.”

Registration is free for all webinars, and, as a way to thank fans, the Steel are offering a complimentary red zone ticket to a 2020-2021 Chicago Steel home game for fans that attend select sessions (youth hockey webinars, scout character talk, Live Strong as Steel Assembly, Read with Rusty, Breaking into Sports) with a limit of one ticket per person over the course of the Fan Connection Series.

Events will be streamed live and registrants may also access the content on demand through Zoom. Registration links for each public webinar or event are available at

The series will open with a pair of webinars produced in collaboration with USA Hockey and focusing on player development from 6U through 18U.

“Over the past several weeks our USA Hockey ADM staff and the Chicago Steel coaches have engaged in extensive discourse related to the development of young players.” said Kevin McGlaughin, USA Hockey Assistant Executive Director of Hockey Development. “We hope that these webinars are engaging and informative for players, parents, and coaches alike.”
