By Ross Forman – Christopher Little remembers the moment in detail, starting at his own goal line, going goal post to goal post to score a goal. He started in the defensive zone, went through and past the other team banking it off the boards, then going wide into the offensive zone. He took a wrist shot that beat the goalie five-hole.
“That probably was the best play of my career,” he said.
Little, 16, who lives in Arlington Heights, is a junior at Rolling Meadows High School who skates for co-op PREP, with No. 49 blazed on the back of his uniform. He is a right-handed-shooting defenseman who formerly played for the Renegades.
“The 2019-20 season was fairly normal and a lot of fun,” Little said. “A regular season for PREP is a great season for a different team and really shows the effort given by the coaches and volunteers.
“This season has been hard on everyone, but the team is very strong, very connected and ready for a regular season.”
Little added: “This year, I hope to lead my team through the year and make sure everyone is healthy and happy. Another goal is to really improve my stickhandling so I can play with my teammates more efficiently and make more passes whenever I can.”
Little’s on-ice approach revolves around a physical style; thus no one can push him or his teammates around.
Little was on the winning side of a tournament with PREP in Grand Rapids, Michigan – truly one of his favorite hockey moments. “This was exciting because we had been there all weekend and pulled together as a team,” he said.
